Struggling with HABITS?

I too struggled till I became aware of 'how habit works'. Cambridge dictionary defines habit as 'something that you do often and regularly, sometimes without knowing that you are doing it'. Every habit was once a constant conscious effort. For instance, while learning to drive, each action involving the steering wheel, brake, accelator, and the working of the side mirrors, all seemed to be tiring and exhausting. But later 'It just comes easy'. And how's that? HABIT!
TIPS ON CREATING A HABIT- Mine was creating the habit of reading
i) Get easy with it - This may sound stupid but it actually works. Look for ways to make that habit as easy as possible. For me, keeping a book instead of my mobile near my bed, made me read first thing in the morning. Moreover, I had to get up for accessing my phone which made my book reading a better choice.
ii) Start small - Don't begin with big goals. While it's always good to aim higher, starting a habit with bigger goals can only make it unachieveable. As James Clear mentioned in his book 'Atomic Habits', 1% improvements add up fast. Do that 1% today!
iii) Missed a day with it- NOT THE END It's alright to slip and get off the track. Just remind yourself 'NEVER MISS TWICE'. Missing once doesn't affect the progress over the long term.
In the end, don't try for the perfect journey, instead have your own with ups and down.
